A good suspense film filled with twists and turns.
This movie was all that it was expected to be. It was suspenseful, edgy, and riveting. My eyes were glued to the television screen to the ending credits.

The movie is about a man who meets a woman in a bar. He helps her escape from a man, and ends up getting intimate with her on the roof of the building. She pulls away and leaves him without any phone number or address. Fortunately, they meet again at the airport.

The man begins to have an intimate affair with the woman. The affair continues, but a suggestion pulls them apart from each other. The woman suggests that he kill her husband in exchange to kill his wife. The man thinks that she is making a sick joke, and he doesn't take it seriously.

He knows she isn't joking when his wife's truck turns up in a river. The woman had to be a part of it. The woman calls him and tells him to do the same for him. He refuses to do so and tells her to get out of his life. She tries to convince him constantly, but he still disagrees. Finally, she convinces him to plot the murder of their husband.

The plot seems perfect, until it goes awry. When it was time to finally kill her husband, things didn't go as planned. In the process, he lost something that could be evidence to prove that he was the killer. Later, he finds out that he has been brought into a web of seduction, deception, and murder.

The plot thickens after this and twists and turns will lurk around every corner. Although this movie is suspenseful, it does have many scenes of sexuality, one which is strong. There is not as much nudity, but still much sexual activity.

I would recommend this movie and another that was similar to this one. The movie was called Body Heat. In it, Kathleen Turner stars as a deceitful woman who seduces a man into murdering her husband. It is more erotic, suspenseful, and taut.

A Must See, Must Own
I was recovering from hip surgery and popped this movie in the VCR at about 1:00 a.m. It looked like a cute drama from the cover, something I could watch and fall asleep to. I couldn't have been more wrong. Before long I was laughing so hard I popped my stitches and woke my entire family up. I mean to tell you this is the funniest movie I have ever seen in my life. So funny I had to bury my face in the pillow to keep from waking the neighbors. Gut busting hilarity....Jill Clayburg is like you've never seen her before! Jeffrey Tambor is fresh, charming, and outrageously funny portraying a slightly bent free spirited jazz musician.
There's a little piece of everyone in these two characters and will keep you in stitches for weeks to come! This movie is for anyone over 30 who has ever vowed "Never Again" to serious relationships. It's upbeat, up to date and an absolute must see, and for me....a must own! It's the funniest movie at the video store....and now at amazon.com! "Never Again" is the most under rated, under advertised, block buster comedy of all time. I just can't say enough! 5 stars in my book!

Sincerely,
Sherry Malone

Sex has never been so funny!
I was blessed to see this film at the Sarasota Film Festival and I have been waiting for it's release. I need to watch it again to see all the parts that I missed from the laughter in the theater! If you have ever been divorced, this film will ring true in many ways. It brings to light so many aspects that people have to face when once again confronted with being single but in a very humane and funny way. Believe me...I lived more than one part of this film and highly recommend it to anyone that is newly single and has the opportunity to view it.

Refreshingly Honest
Serendipity: this is what this movie was like for me. It was "real", in a way that few movies are. It was about real people, in real life, with all their fears, joys, hopes, tragedies and dreams. It was the kind of movie that I want to share with my closest friends, to remind them that courage and love and hope are alive. I recommend it highly to those persons who believe in love, as well as those who have forgotten how, or why, they should. It's not a typical "feel good" story - it has some "hard edges". THey only serve to make it more refreshingly honest. I'm so glad I stumbled across this one.

Why read and write?
I use the book with reluctant readers and writers (middle to high school)to get them to see that "universal, free, public education" was not always available to all and how valuable the abilities to read and write are. Then we watch the film which is an excellent adaptation of the book. Readers/viewers might also want to read Paulsen's sequel, Sarny. Both are interesting turns for Paulsen, best known for his coming of age/wilderness novels, especially Hatchet. Paulsen is one of the best contemporary writers of description...check out the opening page to his book, The Winter Room.

Freedom is Reading!
I love this movie, the first time I saw it was at a showing given by the Delta's, a African American female sorority at the International House in Philadelphia. It was like history coming alive before my eyes, the lesson it taught on the value of education was unforgettable.
When the lights went up, we were engaged in a dialogue led by poet, Sonia Sanchez on the impact of what we viewed and how relevant it was to all educators and students today.
I could only keep asking how to purchase the video!! A few days later I visited my video rental store and their it was on the shelf...it was sold to me for $10!
I have since purchased over half a dozen [...] and given as gifts to lovers of American history. I also present workshops on slavery, Civil War and Literature in many schools, that connect to my storytelling work, featuring the works of Paul Laurence Dunbar. I often recommend this video to the teachers to show in the middle to university level before I come to the classroom or assembly.

It is realistically powerful! Excellent acting by all! Beautiful visuals and a great storyline from the cabin to the big house.

I gave the last one away to a friend who is working on a Slavery Museum here in Philadelphia, so I keep ordering more!

Where's Patty Duke?
When I got this movie and watched it I was diaaapointed because I bought it from the "Patty Duke Auction" and she is not in. In spite of that it is a great movie and the otheer reviews sum it up pretty good. Worth keeping. (: misskittykatt ^..^

Predator
Released in VHS Tape by Twentieth Century Fox (03 June, 1997)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: John McTiernan
Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Kevin Peter Hall
Rambo meets Alien in this terrific science-fiction thriller from 1987, directed by John McTiernan just a year before Die Hard made him Hollywood's most sought-after director of action-packed blockbusters. Arnold Schwarzenegger leads an elite squad of U.S. Army commandos to a remote region of South American jungle, where they've been assigned to search for South American officials who've been kidnapped by terrorists. Instead they find a bunch of skinned corpses hanging from the trees and realize that they're now facing a mysterious and much deadlier threat. As the squad is picked off one by one, Arnold finds himself pitted against a hideous alien creature that's heavily armed and wearing a spacesuit enabling the creature to render itself invisible. The title says it all in describing the relentless, escalating action that follows, maintained by McTiernan with an abundance of visual flair. The film's special effects are still impressive, and stunning locations in the Mexican jungles create a combined atmosphere of verdant beauty and imminent danger. The plot doesn't hold up to much scrutiny, but the movie's so exciting and tightly paced that its weaknesses seem irrelevant. --Jeff Shannon

One of the best SCI-FI movies ever!
What makes this movie so good. First it involves Arnold doing what he does best, which is looking and acting tough. Second when the movie came out it was highly original. Some may say the plot in of itself is not original but the use of an Alien hunter definitely is. Third the director is quiet talented, and it's not surprising that he also directed Die Hard. Fourth, the special effects and makeup for the creature are done by the makeup/FX ledgend Stan Winston.

Also this DVD has an amazing soundtrack, the movie's score has a pounding urgency that helps keep your adrenaline moving with the action. Finally, it passes the repeated viewing test. I've watched this movie many times and each I'm still on the edge of my seat.

My only regret is that this DVD comes with no extra features, no behind the scenes info on the special effects or making of Predator which is a huge let down. Since there is no other edition I'm aware of at this time I'd recommend getting this DVD. If you like supense, action and science fiction then this is for you. If you have seen the second movie and never seen this one, then you should see this movie. This movie is a diamond while the second one is a lump of coal.

Not Rambo meets Aliens, Commando meets Alien
This is by far my favorite action film ever made. I'm no so sure it should be considered a sci-fi film, (yes I'm aware the title character is an alien but) since there's little actual science to this film, and the Predator only uses a (sci-fi-esque) shoulder mounted laser cannon (AKA: Plasma Caster, Shoulder Cannon, SHOULDER GUN OF DOOM!) only a couple times, outside of that the Predator seems to be really as down and dirty as any of the 'humans' in the film, not counting his Cloaking device. While the story line doesn't hold up to scrutiny and the characters are somewhat stereotypical, this film is so good because it has so much action right off the bat, a huge shoot out with a terrorist camp all within the first 30 minutes or so. In most movies the type of battle that took place in the first half of the film would have been the final crescendo peice. But not this movie, after the big shoot out the trained rescue squad takes one a prisoner and try to make their way back across the border, too bad for them, their actions caught they eye of an intergalactic hunter and it's not long before he starts picking them off one by one.

By the end, as you may have guess, Ahnuld is all alone in the jungle with the huge hulking beast, normally Arnold is the "huge hulking beast" in the movie, it was really interesting to see Arnold take on something thats bigger, tougher, seemingly smarter and a whole heck of a lot meaner than him. I think this is one of Mr. Schwarzeneggers better 'acting' performances, he truly lookes terrified of the Predator, of course Arnold will play it off modestly and say he was truly afraid of it but well I still think the acting is really good.

The Predator creature design, I think, is one of the best movie monsters/characters ever made along the lines of Alien and Pumpkinhead. Stan Winston origionally had a more 'insect' like creature design but it was later recommended by James Cameron that the design be switched to the current one for scare purposes.

Now I've told you all about the movie and it's title character now lets talk about the dvd. The price for this disc seems to have jumped a couple bucks in the last month, why? I can't say. But this is a bare bones DVD and I feel it is currently over priced. I got mine for... significantly less...and I still felt I got jipped. The sound is well done, it could stand to have a new master of the sound. It comes with the theatrical trailer, which I thought was cool, but I, myself, am a hardcore Alien and Predator fan and if you are too you will know why the trailer is so neat. You should save you money up for the 2 disc "Special Edition" that should be realeased some time...

Arnold Schwarzenegger's best movie ever
This is the best movie Arnold Schwarzenegger has ever done. the special effects are amazing its a thrill ride you will never get tired of watching this movie. Some commandos go to rescue a government official and finds out that some creature is following them and trying to kill each one of them one by one. as you keep watching the movie you will wonder will they escape or will they all die. you'll never know (unless you seen the movie). this is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made and like i said the special effects are awesome and its a movie that will keep you guessing and guessing.you will always love this movie no matter what. the action will blow you away!!!!

Amazing movie! Dissapointing DVD....
Since I first saw it shortly after it's release to video back in the 80's, Predator has been one of my favorite action flicks. To this day it is Arnie's best. That may not being saying much to most, but they didn't need a big action star such as Schwarzenegger to carry this movie, which is a non-stop barrage of exciting action and suspense. However, while the film itself is fabulous, the DVD packs NO special features! I was hoping for a Making Of, interviews, deleted scenes....something! Alas, all we get is the original trailer. If you are a fan looking for the film on DVD only, then you will be satisfied. If you are a fan looking for extra goodies and insight into this great movie, you will be highly dissapointed with it's nonexistent bonus features.

See the governors!
This is one of the greatest action films that came out of the 1980s, when the genre was at its height. The predator is one of the best Hollywood monsters ever created. You get to see two state governors as well! Can't beat that! Carl Weathers in 2004!

Predator (Widescreen Edition)
Released in VHS Tape by Twentieth Century Fox (18 August, 1998)
