Bug
Released in VHS Tape by Wellspring Media, In (08 July, 2003)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Directors: Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi
In the charming independent movie Bug, a small boy squashing an insect sets in motion a series of events, large and small, that include a lost restaurant reservation, a drunken fender-bender, disruption of basic cable television service, and more than one relationship falling apart. One person's disaster becomes another's boon, and vice versa--because a man loses his job, a young girl becomes the lead ballerina in the school play, which in turn causes the death of a pet pig. Featuring Brian Cox (Manhunter, L.I.E.), Jamie Kennedy (Scream, Malibu's Most Wanted), Sarah Poulson (Down with Love), and John Carroll Lynch (Fargo, Bubble Boy), Bug takes a comic look at the interconnectedness of life. The movie occasionally tries too hard for emotional resonance, but its best comic touches--like some vengeful fortune cookie messages written by a jilted boyfriend--give Bug a wry wit worth checking out. --Bret Fetzer

You'll Connect!!!
This film is an excellent portrayal of the interconnectivity of all our lives. The film has a great message about life. This film was finely directed, I highly recommend it.

The best independent film of the year.
This quirky comedy is ingenious and hilarious... well worth it!

Vital Signs

Director: Marisa Silver

Fast-paced entertaining look at med school
Adrian Pasdar and Diane Lane stand out as the med students who fall in love. The rest of the cast is just as talented and the majority of characters are three-dimensional (except the "bad guy"). This is an interesting look into the lives of med students: their duties, relationships with their patients and each other, their angst, ethical worries, and the political system within the medical community. There are enough plots and subplots to keep one's interest the entire time. There is never a dull moment and it turns out to be a fun movie and a well-written one also. One of my favorite movies of all time.

A Great '80's Comedy. A Must-See!
Hey, movie lovers! If you like 80's movies, you must see this 1988 comedy! It's about a 16 year old dude named Les (Corey Haim, The Lost Boys) who wants nothing more in the world than a driver's license. Unfortunately, he thinks he knows everything about driving and doesn't need to study for his test. Is he right? No way!
The most beautiful girl in his school (Heather Graham, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) has just asked him out on a date. There's only one problem: He doesn't have a license! Does that stop him? No! He sneaks out in the middle of the night in his grandpa's '72 Cadillac, thinking nothing can possibly go wrong. He tries his best to keep anything from happening to it, which he finds out is almost impossible!!
This movie was filmed in 1987, and released in the summer of 1988. It also features Corey Feldman (also from the Lost Boys) and is a great comedy, and a must-see! Unfortunately, its out of print on VHS, but hopefully it will come back, and on DVD! You gotta see it!! It has GOT to be the best 80's movie ever made!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahaha!!!
Corey Haim & Corey Feldman in the same movie!!!! OH MY!!!

Yeah, if you're a fan of either there is NO DOUBT you'll love this movie. But even if you don't its still pretty darn hilarious.

Plot: A 16yrs kid Les(Corey Haim) goes out for his driving test and well...Miserably fails. Afraid of telling his parents he lets them believe he passed until his mom finds the "Failed" paper in him clothes while doing the laundry. But that night he still ends of driving in order to take out this babe(Heather Graham). More or less to impress her.

Does'nt seem to interesting, but it ONLY get's better. Not to mention Corey Feldman gives this hilariously stupid speech about why kids have the right to drive after waiting 16yrs. And IF you have seen any of his teen movies before you know where this is headed.

Has some great scenes including a drunk lunatic. Hey and Carol Kane is a plus. It is a shame its out of print. They should put it on DVD. It may be an 80's movie, but I think in one way or another us teens can relate to it.

Enjoy!

God Bless ~Amy

80's in nutshell
The Corey's second best film behind Dream a Little Dream, but this is definately them at their funniest. You know in Ferris how everything seemed to go his way , well the Corey's go the opposite way. If you ever snuck out at night and were doing things that now would land you in jail just to be wild and be a teenager this is for you. Things never went right for me on those nights and the Corey's are no acception. This is a hilarious ride through 80's hair, music, and clothes with a great cast.(Heather Graham's first) Also if you liked this check out the 90's version called Trojan War.

Little Mistake
My dad was an extra in this movie. He was one of the mall security guards. If you look close, you can see him looking at a map on the wall, then walking around the mall at the same time. I know its nothing, just one of those things we noticed when first watching it.

true american cult classic
I was 13 when I first laid my eyes on the best film ever made, Boys Next Door. Max Caufield is one of the most underated actors of all time. The role he plays in this movie should have won an oscar. He truely captured the part of a real sociopath, and take it from me, being one, it is not easy to understand the mind of a true sociopath. Being one of Charlie Sheen's less no movies also helps make it great. This movie would have never been accepted in the main steam for it's true to life violence and social misbehavior. Most people will not understand this movie, but those who do, will never forget it! It is the second most watched movie in my life, only to Beastmaster. But hopefully after recently aquiring the DVD it will be first. Don't be suprised if you laugh a few times or even worse relate to Bo and Roy! Please enjoy this film for what it is, an american tail of two every day guys out for a good time who make it happen.

Festival of justice, cleansing dance
Bo and Roy keenly sense the bigotry and worthlessness of the common man and his passive acceptance of this material society. Their experience from school revealed to them the hypocrocy of an education to prepare them for slavery, the nausious realization that most people worship malls and Chinese manufactured trinkets. Bo and Roy bided their time in high school. They rejected all forms of worthless mainstream social activities and adorned themselves in the mantle of plain t-shirts and worn blue jeans. But their moment finally came. They graduated from high school and they took their message to the general populace. A message of judgement, violence, and retribution. A cleansing of the trash people and a celebration of their new faith and power. The raghead at the service station, beaten by his own pump handle was a collage of brutality and purity that resonated with all believers. The babbling, impotent, old lady callously and casually missiled with a beer bottle to the head merged violence and humor in a tapestry of genuine lust for life. As in all dramatic tragedies, our heroes find their last stand in between the worthless, plastic walls of a shopping mall. The cold, bleak walls of a contrived world where mindless fools pilgrim to worship at the alter of the Gap and eat the manna of Mrs. Fields. Bo became the sacrifice at our plastic alter. He never wavered and his passion resonates long after the closing credits. Your life is incomplete and impoverished without the experience of this grand film.

Black Sheep/Tommy Boy
Released in VHS Tape by Paramount Studio (01 April, 2003)
MPAA Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested)
Director: Penelope Spheeris
Starring: Chris Farley and David Spade
Before his death, comedian Chris Farley made a pair of surprisingly successful comedies that teamed him with Saturday Night Live colleague David Spade. Their relationship in each film was pretty much the same, but then so was Abbott and Costello's or Laurel and Hardy's (not that Farley and Spade are in their league). In Tommy Boy, Farley plays the ne'er-do-well son of a successful auto parts manufacturer (Brian Dennehy). When Dad drops dead just after marrying a young new wife, it's up to Tommy (aided by sarcastic bean-counter Spade) to rescue the company by taking over for his father. Black Sheep features a slightly different plot: This time, Spade is hired by Farley's brother (Tim Matheson), a candidate for governor, to keep Farley (an accident-prone buffoon) out of sight until after the election. Farley has a likable quality that is exploited by continuous slapstick centered on his clumsiness, both physically and socially. --Marshall Fine

Tommy Boy
This was my favorite movie from Farley. TOMMY BOY is hilarious! There's a lot of patented Chris Farley physical comedy and you also get the smart mouth wise crack comedy from David Spade in this movie as well.

Farley is Tommy and after his father dies of a heart attack, he inherits his father's auto parts company. He also finds out that his father's business was going into bankruptcy and now it's up to Tommy and Richard (Spade) to travel across the country and sell as many of brake pads as they can so the company doesn't have to sell.

This movie is truly hilarious and I enjoyed every minute of it. One of my favorite scenes in the entire movie is when Tommy and his girlfriend are on a date on the lake and he's get heckled by some kids. And how could you not laugh at the part with the deer in the back seat?

Great movie, very funny and it never gets old. Check out TOMMY BOY and also check out some of Farley's other movies like BLACK SHEEP and BEVERLY HILLS NINJA. And if you're looking for more SNL stars, check out Adam Sandler in THE WATERBOY and HAPPY GILMORE, Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in WAYNE'S WORLD and WAYNE'S WORLD 2 and Molly Shannon in SUPERSTAR just to name a few.

A great movie for EVERYONE!
This is a movie that even non-fans of Farley and Spade will love! Story: Tommy (Chris Farley)is the loser son of the CEO of a brake pad manufacturing company. Dad dies, leaving Tommy and his dad's jealous underling Richard (David Spade) the task of selling one million brake pads in one month to keep the company from going under. Farley is at his comic best in this movie, and Spade is the perfect straight man! Farley and Spade are stuck on a road-trip from hell, and the comedy is non-stop. There are laughs from beginning to end, and the scene where Tommy tries to convince one guy to buy thier brake pads and ends up trashing his desk will have you rolling on the floor laughing! Great story, great cast, great movie all-around! Too bad I only have 2 thumbs- they are both WAY up!

A must see movie!!!!
This movie is funny as hell. Make sure you pick it up.

True Lies
Released in VHS Tape by Twentieth Century Fox (26 May, 1998)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: James Cameron
Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis
From The Terminator to Titanic, you can always rely on writer-director James Cameron to show you something you've never seen on the big screen before. The guy may not consistently pen the most scintillating dialogue in the world (and, especially in this movie, he doesn't seem to have a particularly high regard for women), but as a director of kinetic, push-the-envelope action sequences, he is in a class by himself. In True Lies, the highlight is a breathtaking third-act jet and car chase through the Florida Keys. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a covert intelligence agent whose wife of 15 years (Jamie Lee Curtis) finally finds out that he's not really a computer salesman and who becomes mixed up in a case involving nuclear arms smuggling. Tom Arnold is surprisingly funny and engaging as Schwarzenegger's longtime spy partner, and Bill Paxton is a smarmy used-car salesman (is that redundant?) whom Arnold thinks is having an affair with his wife. Purely in terms of spectacular action and high-tech hardware, True Lies is a blast. --Jim Emerson

I agree with Kasheri
Finally, I find someone who sees the abusiveness in the relationship between Arnie and his wife. I find it really disturbing that this is supposed to be funny. And that scene where he interrogates her is absolutely frightful.

pumped up action with the govenor of New York
good, solid action with Arnold chewing up badguys with lots of gadgets and tools. the hottest scene would be when Jamie Lee Curtis strips, meow baby. note the other cast including, Bill Paxton, Art Malik, Grant Heslov, Charlton Heston and Eliza Dushku. for fans of the Arnold man. I cant stop calling him the govenor, its so addicting and it adds some spark to my reviews as I do them

Hilarious, it you want to laugh go for it!
I could see this over and over and laugh my head off every time and I'm not even a big fan of either of the main actors. One of my all time favorites by far!!!

On Arnold's acting resume "True Lies" would be his best film
Now might be a good time to check out "True Lies" once again, simply because most of the principles are in the news a lot these days. After all, Arnold Swarzenegger is running for governor of California, Jamie Lee Curtis is getting great reviews for her work in the new version of "Freaky Friday," a network has shown enough faith in Eliza Dushku to star her in a new television series "Tru Calling," and Tom Arnold is hosting a sports talk show on television while being dissed by ex-wife Roseanne Barr as she prepares for her new reality show. Of course, you have to wonder whatever happened to James Cameron, the director of this 1994 action comedy (my own guess is that the spirit of David O. Sleznick is whispering in Cameron's ear, "Okay, now that you're 'King of the World' what are you going to do next?").

Arnold is Harry Tasker, a special agent for a super secret government organization, but his wife Helen (Curtis), thinks he is just a boring computer salesman. While he is dealing with cracking a ring of international terrorists, she is looking for a little more excitement in her life. Ironically, she thinks she has found this in a fast talking used car salesman who hits on lonely wives by pretending he is a secret agent. Of course, the irony gets a bit more intense as the movie progresses and the chief attraction is that Harry is trying to save his marriage along with the free world. If there is one lesson this film teaches, then it would clearly be the old adage that it takes two to tango.

This week my thinking is that "True Lies" is ultimate Arnold Swarzenegger film, combining the action of the "Terminator" films with the appealing comedy of "Kindergarten Cop." This is a film that is able to have it both ways when it comes to Arnold's cinematic persona, being faithful to his larger than life action sequences while also carrying off some tongue-in-cheek parody. Meanwhile, Curtis turns in the second best performance of her career, which I can now say because I just saw her best in "Freaky Friday" this afternoon. Tom Arnold has never been better an the second banana, which is something he probably knows, and Charlton Heston has a choice bit part as the head of the secret organization for which Harry works. I have heard there is supposed to be a sequel to this film, which might be derailed by Arnold's candidacy (especially if he gets elected), but that might be just as well because a sequel could not be better than the original in this case.

Schwarzenegger movies will be on hiatus, at least in California, for the next couple of months. Fortunately, the movies of actors running for political office are a lot more accessible today than they were went Ronald Reagan was running for president (Note: "Bedtime for Bonzo" is a very good B-comedy and primarily a joke to those who have not seen the film). If you are thinking of watching a Schwarzenegger movie to mull over his viability as a political candidate, then "True Lies" seems the obvious choice. As for me, I watched it again because I wanted to see more of the funny (and sexy) Jamie Lee Curtis, and Laurie Strode just does not suffice any more.

One of Arnie's and Cameron's best films!
Meet Arnold Swarzennegar - amazing James Bond type spy who's absolutely clueless as a husband and father. He starts out as impeccable as 007, who he is obviously spoofing, but then loses it and goes crazy when he suspects his wife (Jamie Lee Curtis) is cheating on him.

his best buddy, Tom Arnold from "Roseanne" fame, is the perfect comic foil. It's really Tom that makes this act/adv stand out from the crowd. The dialogue is fast, funny, and Tom takes it to the limit. Also up for a laugh is Bill Paxton, another Cameron regular (Aliens), who plays a seedy used-car salesman posing as a spy in order to seduce women. He really goes all the way, completely unafraid of playing a true idiot!

It's just so great to watch an act/adv with great action that isn't limited to the usual, off-hand quips from stoneyfaced he-men. This movie is one of my favorites because it's a great popcorn movie that delivers on many levels. It's not just an excuse to blow things up and no one takes themselves too seriously. Everyone obviously had a great time making this film and it shows. I hope they make the sequel soon.

Hilarious, it you want to laugh go for it!
