Diary of a Hit Man (Amazon.com Exclusive)
Released in VHS Tape by MGM/UA Video (20 February, 2001)
Starring: Forest Whitaker and Sherilyn Fenn
Average review score:

Me Hit Man! You Jain! When an intelligent script, terrific acting, and talented directing come together, the result is a picture like 1991's DIARY OF A HIT MAN. Directed by Roy London, this film is a psychological study of a professional hit man hired to kill a young woman and her "crack baby." Forest Whitaker plays the assassin who wrestles with the meaning of his existence and his own humanity. Sherilyn Fenn plays the young lady. Both give virtuoso performances. Fenn, known widely for her work on TWIN PEAKS, is clearly underrated as an actress and after watching her interpret the part of "Jain," you will agree. Sharon Stone and Jim Belushi have small roles but are also outstanding. Mesmerizing from start to finish, DIARY OF A HIT MAN deserves to be considered one of the best films of the decade.

Echo of Murder
Released in VHS Tape by Showtime Entertainment 2 (17 June, 2003)
Average review score:

Interesting side of the Atlanta Child MurdersThis is an interesting 'true-crime' movie. The infamous Atlanta Child murders of 1979-1981 were suspiciously all pinned on Wayne Williams. This film shows the journey of two reporters from Spin Magazine (not exactly a credible source of criminal investigation) who travel to Atlanta to look deeper into the case. Quite a few conspiracy theories emerge. One theory, based on testimony from the locals, is that the kids were all involved in a child porno ring connected with the city's leaders, and were all killed to keep it from being uncovered. The primary theory that the reporters pursue is the organization of a white-power, ku klux klan group that murdered the children out of racial bias. The controversy occurs when a lead detective throws this out because he thinks it will start a race war if it's true. There are interesting demographics here because Atlanta was a thriving city and had a black mayor.
Drawbacks to the movie are present. Hines and Belushi do a bang-up job of overacting and consistently threaten the story with their poor drama skills. Also, hardly anything is said about Williams and his conviction, so I couldn't really tell if the arguments being made had any value. Nonetheless, an interesting movie with lots of information.

One Way Out
Released in VHS Tape by Lions Gate Home Ente (10 December, 2002)
Average review score:

Surprisingly decent movie! For a flick that never made it to the theater, this movie was surprisingly good. I don't normally like John Belushi, but I found that he is very believable in this serious role. The story is interesting and well written. The image quality of the video is not great. In fact it's pretty poor, but the storyline makes up for it. Overall, I'd recommend it as a good rental or to own.
Storyline:
Good cop with some bad habits gets involed in a murder to get out of debt. The plot takes a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

SNL ReviewA great special for a great show...BUT DON'T BUY THIS VHS! I bought it for 14.95 and i spent 9.95 too much. It is recorded in EP mode, so it doen't come in very well. If you want an SNL special worth every penny, get the 25th Annaversary Special.

Saturday Night Live: 1986 Annual
Released in VHS Tape by Anchor Bay Entertainment (19 November, 1997)

crystal and shortthe show was in a bad spot when crystal and short were recruited to save it and that's exactly what they did and that is the higlight of these videos and that is why this is essential if you are a fan of either of these comedians or a fan of the show. The swimming sketch when short can't swim gets me every time.

Saturday Night Live: 1987 Annual
Released in VHS Tape by Anchor Bay Entertainment (19 November, 1997)
Average review score:

87 was a good yearahhh 1987, the show was finally comming in to it's own again, the cast was great the show was recovering from the bad period after crystal and short left and these are some quality sketches and some very funny moments even if it is just a random year. The true highlight here is hartman but all of the cast shines.

Snl:Best of Steve Martin
Released in VHS Tape by Starmaker/Anchor Bay (28 August, 1992)
Average review score:

Classic Steve Martin! What can I say, this is one great video. It includes several classic routines including my personal favorite:"What the Hell is That"? It also has a Mr. Bill clip and two performances by the Blues Brothers. If you like the comedy of Steve Martin, I strongly recommend this tape.

The Man with One Red Shoe
Released in VHS Tape by Twentieth Century Fox (02 April, 2002)
Starring: Tom Hanks and Lori Singer
Adapted from a popular French comedy-thriller, The Man with One Red Shoe follows a concert violinist (Tom Hanks) used as a patsy in a conflict between two rival factions of the CIA. Singled out at the airport solely because he's wearing mismatched shoes, Hanks is henceforth believed to be a mole with important information; a rogue crew of agents follows him, searches his apartment, and even seduces him in order to find out what he knows. At the same time, loyal agents--who also believe he's a mole--follow and protect him from predation by the rogues. Lori Singer plays a beautiful blonde spy with a conscience and an astonishing backless dress; Dabney Coleman, Charles Durning, and Edward Herrmann are agents trying to second-guess each other; Jim Belushi plays Hanks's best friend, a jealous percussionist, and Carrie Fisher plays Belushi's wife, a flautist who's infatuated with Hanks and wants him to make some jungle love. Hanks plays it straight and is reliably pleasant. In the hands of Hitchcock, this might have generated some real suspense; as it is, it's amusing with some good twists, some weak gags, and one remarkable bicycle stunt. --Bret Fetzer

The real reason the French don't like usI had high hopes for this one when it was released; the original French movie 'The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe' is one of my favorite comedies, and hey, who doesn't like Tom Hanks?
But this remake is streets apart from that - for all the mayhem in the common plot of intelligence intrigue and unwitting decoys, the remake plays it lots meaner and uglier than the original...and then is downright prudish on the sexual angles that made the original a pleasing adult comedy.
Maybe if you never saw the original you can like or tolerate this one. As for me...Sacre bleu, it stinks.
Lighthearted spoofI have fond memories of this movie from my late adolescence. True, it is hard to keep track of which thugs work for which side, but in the end, who cares? The trouble Tom Hanks gets them into by innocently going about his own business is great! Jim Belushi has some great moments too, later on in the film. I laughed out loud for several gags, and can watch the movie more than once.
Carrie Fisher really swingsThis is one of Tom Hanks's best. It may get lost in the total of his movies. However it is a must see. I did not see the French movie this is supposed to be a remake of, yet given the cast and their enthusiasm in the movie it could only be an improvement. It was interesting that Richard (Tom Hanks) and Morris (James Belushi) used bicycles for transportation. Many parts of the film would not have worked if they were in automobiles or on foot.
I guess the moral of this story is that you have to watch your feet.
