Say It Isn't So
Released in VHS Tape by Fox Home Entertainme (04 June, 2002)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: James B. Rogers (II)
Starring: Chris Klein and Heather Graham
Say It Isn't So is touted as being from the Farelly brothers, who wrote and directed the movies Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and There's Something About Mary. And though they didn't write or direct this movie, it certainly has the same elements: charming lead actors (in this case, Heather Graham from Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Chris Klein from Election and American Pie) put through all sorts of comic grotesqueries, ranging from having an ear cut off to getting a hand stuck up a cow's rectum. Orphaned dogcatcher Gilly (Klein) and incompetent hairdresser Jo (Graham) fall in love, only to discover that Gilly's long-lost mother is Jo's own white trash momma (played with gusto by Sally Field). Unfortunately, they'd already slept together, so Jo flees in shame to go back to her ex-boyfriend in Beaver, Oregon. But when Jo's real brother shows up, Gilly sets out to win Jo back--only her mom wants her to marry the ex and tells the Beaver police that Gilly is a sexual predator. Say It Isn't So doesn't have the crude wit of There's Something About Mary, but there are several laugh-out-loud moments, and both Graham and Klein are sweet and engaging. Orlando Jones has a zestful turn as a legless seaplane pilot. --Bret Fetzer

This one takes the cake
This is absolutely the worst movie I have ever seen. It is insultingly unfunny, and exploited every cliche the "raucous comedy" genre has to offer. Ha ha, a hand up a cow's ass... Ha ha, she cut his ear off! (get it, because she's a bad hair dresser?) Ha ha, it's gross that it's his sister... Damn, this movie sucked. See for yourself, I dare you.

The WORST movie I've ever seen!!!
Yet another 'family time' movie I was forced to endure, Say it isn't So made the movie, Where the Buffalo Roam look like a masterpiece. This was a horrid, frightful movie! First of all, I didn't laugh once, and I am easily amused. They tried to be funny and all, but I couldn't see what was so 'hilarious' about this unredeemable piece of crap. Once again, Chris Klein plays the sweet, naive guy he always seems to play. And once again, he falls for some equally dumb chick and their love is tested by some predicament (Leelee with her illness; Mena and the choir vs. playing lacross with his buddies). But eventually, they'll overcome all odds, but not before going through a bunch of ridiculous 'issues' and live happily ever after. This was just awful - it was an insult to trailer park people. I hated, hated, HATED this movie! Grrr!

I'm done now. Just don't see this movie. I almost blinded myself after watching this.

Are these people joking?
My gosh, what is wrong with the people giving this movie 1 star! It is a funny movie. The movie is about incest, but it is funny. It's weird, but the plot is kind of like marrying his sister.

Anyways, the movie is funny. That dude from American Pie is in it, and he gets into trouble. The cow, the plane, and even the entire movie had me laughing hysterically.

The movie is great. It's good comedy, I don't know why others say differnetly.

The Trigger Effect
Released in VHS Tape by Universal Studios (31 March, 1998)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: David Koepp
Starring: David Koepp, Kyle MacLachlan, Elisabeth Shue, and Dermot Mulroney
In David Koepp's ambivalent tale of middle-class terror, modern society is already set just below the boiling point. When a massive, unexplained blackout strikes married couple Kyle MacLachlan and Elizabeth Shue's region, their already tense suburban lifestyle threatens to pitch over. Old friend Joe (Dermot Mulroney) adds some obligatory class and marital strain into the mix, but together the three debate what to do as their society is rumored to be collapsing (all phones and broadcasting are also shot). Making an end run for the in-laws' house 500 miles away, they come across several confrontations that compromise their values and test their survival instincts. Unfortunately, there are no fresh critiques of humanity's latent turpitude that lurks close to the surface, and the film's pacing is rather staid. --Alan E. Rapp

What no one thinks could happen
It has been awhile since I watched this show. My favorite part is the song at the end while the credits are running. I can't say it is a bad show and definitely don't think it deserves to be trashed as I've seen in other reviews. You could compare this show to the anticipation of the year 2000, with computers that run so many vital operations going down and the ensuing eruption of chaos. You might call this a disaster movie. It's not a great show and people don't want to believe it could happen but stranger things have.

hey, elisabeth shue is in it so give it a try
Entertaining, realistic movie. check it out sometime.

So What Would YOU Do If The Power Went Out?
This movie offers one possible perspective of what could plausably happen if a major metropolitan area lost power for an extended period. While surprising how fast people lost it in the movie, I believe the actions taken and the scenes portrayed unfortunately mirror society's rush to irratic behavior. In the Just-In-Time society we all live in, one small crinkle could have dire effects. Elizabeth Shue looks great in the movie, and plays the role of the disillusioned house wife well. Could this movie mirror the possible effects of a Y2K type scenario? The question begs an answer, to which this movie replies quite loudly.. A good rent for the weekend.

don't buy it- but if it comes on t.v..........
This is the type of movie few people will like enough to own. For its time (1985), it has great special effects, and the plot at the very least is inventive. A computer geek goes through a 'vortex', and has to save his girlfriend from the enemy. The enemy makes him go through about six different situations, and the nerd has to think his way out of it (with the help of his computer, of course).

This movie is not to be taken seriously in any way, shape or form. Serious film seekers stay away at ALL costs!! This film is a time- killer, plain and simple. A rainy day, nothing better to do kind of movie. In that context, this is a four star movie.

This is the type of movie you watch just for the expierence of watching it. I forewarn you; at times the dialouge is total cheese, but if you like (a) science fiction or (b) to watch strange films about 10 people have seen before (or a mix of both) either rent it or watch it on t.v. Who knows, you may be one of the few who wants to own it!

Crack House

So horrible it's funny
I saw this movie late at night at a friend's house. Imagine every single stereotype about drugs you've ever heard wrapped up into a low-budget flick. This is that movie. It's so bad it's hillarious. The lingo is great, too. This movie has great kitsch value, and would be a great thing to watch while you're sitting around with your friends, smoking a blunt or drinking. It's definitely entertaining, but only because it's so bad.

So bad I can't stop watching.
Have you ever seen a movie so sorry that you actually get a kick out of watching it over and over? Well that's what you get with this one. There was no real plot and many of the sequences were so stupid they were almost unreal. How can the police buy drugs from a crack house, letting them know what's going on, yet they can't bust in until the exchange is made with the supplier? Ahhhh Hollywood. Dialogue? Forget it. Take away the F word and half the script is gone. Feminists would have a field day with the misogyny in this film, with scenes like Annie being raped, Melissa being pushed into a scalding shower naked and when BT takes advantage of a drug dazed Melissa. In spite of it I find myself watching it again and again for kicks, like video junk food.

BT
I saw this movie and it was horrible, but the spell of the plot kept you watching no matter how much you wanted to turn. they have picked a perfect title for this movie because one glimpse of this flick, you are hooked. The movie, itself is only two stars, but the way they keep you in the movie gives it a five.

Hollywood Confidential
Released in VHS Tape by Paramount Studio (27 July, 1999)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Reynaldo Villalobos
Average review score:

Another movie looking at Hollywood.
"Hollywood Confidential" is a TV movie and it certainly looks like it. It actually resembles a version of "VIP" with some men working alongside the women. The only difference is that the main purpose of the agency in the film is to spy on people (although they also provide protection when the situation calls for it). The actors are never really given any chance to express emotion. They are all just there for the purpose of speaking lines to present the extremely dull plot. The plot mostly centers around a big time Hollywood director who is trying to cut off his relationship with a teenage girl. The usual plot developments occur and nothing truly interesting ever really happens. Charlize Theron and Amanda Pays (who is criminally underused here) try to provide some spark but it is hopeless in this case.
