Happy Birthday, Bugs: 50 Looney Years
Released in VHS Tape by Warner Studios (15 August, 1990)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: Gary Smith (II)

I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED!
I should have listened to the last viewer of this video. I love Bugs Bunny cartoons also, and these very short clips of Bug's were a tease. There were nothing but celebrities talking about the bunny's career, and how his crazy antics made so many people happy. I couldn't believe how bored I was, watching what was supposed to be a cartoon segment of laughes. The viewer was right, don't waste your time in purchasing this video; look for the Bugs Bunny and friends videos for your entertainment.

Bugs 50th Celebration!
Buy this,Lt and MM fans. It spans Bugs' 50th aniversary in 1990 with short clips from Bugs' entire carrier. Also contains interviews with 80s celebrities, also with classic Looney Tunes animators like Robert McKimson,Chuck Jones,Friz Freling(Tex Avery died in 1980.)It also contains tributes with Daffy Duck,Marvin the Martian,Tazmainaian Devil,Speedy Gonzales,Sniffles the Mouse,Mary Jane,The French Chefs(you know their names),Blaque Jacque Shaque(he spoke French, starred in some cartoons and also was the robber of WB),Porky Pig,Elmer Fudd,Wile E. Coyote, the Road Runner, and more LT,MM and WB characters.Although today we're celebratin'Bugs 61th aniversary from 1940 to 2001 and Looney Tunes 71th aniversary from 1930 to 2001.Although this special was produced in 1990,it reminds me of a little somethin'from the 1980s.Those things are Tex Averys Death and Alvin and the Chipmunks. It was the best tv series of all time.Wanna know why?It was adventure.I'm a big fan of adventure.Wanna know the best part? The songs. The songs were the best part because they revise all the hits you know and love from artists like the Carpenders,Jerry Lee Lewis,Elvis Presley,The Supremes, and many others. So,if you wanna celebrate Bugs'1990 birthday, you gotta buy this world renound TV special on home video! This is for LT,MM,and WB freaks, nerds, maniacs, fans, etc.

I beg to differ with the reviewer from Alabama!
I bought this video last year, and I love it! It's silly, yes, but I enjoy silly stuff! This special, although made in 1990, still counts as something from the 80s in my view, and I love the 80s! Now if only I could get my hand on some uncensored Looney Tunes, then I'd be in business!

The Sunshine Boys
Released in VHS Tape by Hallmark Home Entertainment (18 June, 2002)
MPAA Rating: NR (Not Rated)
Director: John Erman
Starring: Woody Allen and Peter Falk
Average review score:

AWEFUL! See the original
The original with Walter Matthau and George Burns is so much better, it's not even funny. I like Allen and Falk, but this is an embarassment to them.

A touching vignette
To Woody Allen/Peter Falk/Neil Simon fans, this is must viewing. I think they both had a good time making this, and I sure enjoyed the viewing. Even if you don't like the film as much as other Woody films, the music, as always, is a pleasure. I would love an album of "Songs Woody Allen Movies are Made of." This film manages to get the story of two old ex-partners who reunite briefly to be touching, yet not sticky. Sarah Jessica Parker is excellent as the incredibly patient neice of Peter Falk, and Whoopi Goldberg really steals a scene here as Falk's nurse!

Tears and sunshine.
A competent remake of the 1975 version of Neil Simon's play about the love/hate relationship between two ex-vaudeville stars. The two leads are a delight to watch although not quite up to the standard of Walter Matthau and George Burns. Sarah Jessica Parker is fine in the role of the pushy niece who tries to get the stars together one more time but the real star of the film is the script. It's up there with other strong Neil Simon work such as "California Suite". In an age too familiar with relentlessly banal "comedy" scripts here is one with consistent bittersweet humour and warmth. A slim story that has been made to work beautifully. Recommended.

But my 3 year old loves it, so who am I to argue.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers: The Power Is Yours
THIS AND EVERY CAPTAIN PLANET EPISODE, VHS, DVD AND ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS SHOW IS GREAT AND A VERY GENIOUS CREATION AND ENJOYABLE TO ME WHEN I WAS 6-8 YEARS OLD AND IN TRYING TO REMINECE IN CHILDHOOD MEMORIES I AM TEMPORARILY ENJOYING IT IN MY FREE TIME NOW THAT I AM 18 YEARS OLD

Captain Planet and the Planeteers: Toxic Terror

WHAT???
This is weird a silver guy with a green MULLET!!!! Man if this was made in the ninteys then those dudes who made must be weird!!! DO NOT EVER BUY THIS OR ANYTHING ELSE OF CAPTAIN PLANET!!!

Great Show!!
I have loved Captain Planet since the show first aired on TBS/Cartoon Nework. Captain Planet is so cool. The episodes are more exciting than you would think. Since the show is based on saving the planet from pollution you would think that the show would be dull and stupid. But it is a really good show.

If you haven't seen Captain Planet I suggest watching on Cartoon Network.

Fatal Beauty
Released in VHS Tape by Mgm/Ua Studios (16 April, 1996)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Tom Holland
Starring: Whoopi Goldberg and Sam Elliott
Average review score:

Good Action With goldberg;s sense of humor is a good combo
A fast talking smart mouth cop investigates a cocaine ring who specalizes in a lethal form of cocaine and sells it to the highest bidder. Basically what the viewer has here is the female version of BEVERLY HILLS COP With Goldberg having the same dialouge Eddie Murphy had. The violence and bloodflow never stops from the opening scene right to the climatic finale. The best part was the massive shoot out in the mall. The film has one weak point Sam Elliot, wasn;t really convincing as a bodyguard who ends up falling for Goldberg. Whoopi Goldberg pulled off a very funny genuine performance. The film is worth seeing and is much, much better than BURGLER realased the same year.

One of my favorite Whoopi films
I'm surprised at the bad review Amazon gave this. I really enjoy watching the film over and over. Whoopi is as funny as ever in her "character" rolls and the drama adds another dimension. There is profanity, but not inappropiate to the movie. I think she did a great job and if you liked Jumpin' Jack Flash, I think you'll like this one.

The Telephone
Released in VHS Tape by Star Maker (09 February, 1998)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Rip Torn

I wish she never made this....
Whoopie Goldberg is my favorite actress. Having said that, this is the worst film I've ever seen. I rented it expecting something totally different. I only watched the first 15 minutes and then turned it off. I've since found out what the ending is, but I'm not sure it justifies having to watch more than five minutes of film to get there. As a ten minute Twilight Zone episode, it might be great, but otherwise, please watch something else of her's.

Great Stuff
I also think this Film is a play... and it's a good one too. Unfortunatelly it is a play made for Europe (or Off Off Broadway...) The whole concept of the movie is brilliant. Whoopy shows diverse personalities in a detached from reality actress with no job... and wait untill you get to see the end... When will this movie be released again ????

OK, it's not for everyone
If you liked "Jumping Jack Flash" or "Fatal Beauty," don't see this. If you enjoy film that will stretch and challenge your psyche (not TV-style, teen mentality comic drivel), you may find this worthwhile. This is Whoopi in the style of her old stand-up routines -- her in-your-face, don't-be-so-stupid style that she, sadly, has long since abandoned in favor of commercial success. The classification of this work as "comedy" does it and viewers a true injustice.

Naked in New York
Released in VHS Tape by Columbia/Tristar Studios (10 September, 1996)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Daniel Algrant
Starring: Eric Stoltz and Mary-Louise Parker
Naked in New York is a likable, intimate look at the young couple Jake and Joanne (Eric Stoltz and Mary-Louise Parker), who meet in college and slowly see their lives pull apart. A romantic comedy with a New York attitude, it's a more realistic version of Reality Bites. A struggling playwright with a rich imagination, Jake has a laziness factor that's holding him back, and, in part, that's the underlying feeling of the movie: Things just happen. But it's a great showcase for the underappreciated Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes) and for Tony Curtis as an off-Broadway producer. In addition to the hugely likable cast are many catchy cameo appearances. --Doug Thomas

Naked in New York
Oh dear, it's one of those films where the stars wish they hadn't made! Eric Stoltz does give an excellent performance and the plot i suppose is pretty good, but it's one of those classic 'it never gets started films' and when it tries to it falls into all your typical cliches!
Tim Dalton...why? I mean I think the guy is a superb actor but, what are you doing man? What was the point in his role? Why did he decide to do it and...Oh I think I have given up asking this now!! Come Back James Bond all is forgiven!

... the playwright
This is a descendant of the 1980's teen pic crossed with 1990's grunge directed by Daniel Algrant, with Eric Stoltz having left his girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker and while driving, reminisces, narrating to the camera. There are flashbacks to his childhood, his relationship, and the production of an autobiographical off-Broadway play "Master of my Emotions" (with such a title you know it's bound to flop, unless it is meant as an indication of the self-indulgence of some off-Broadway productions). Only the latter subplot brings this film some degree of interest since as characters Stoltz and Parker are dull, limp, dull. This performance makes you long for Peter Bogdanovich's Mask cos at least in that film Stoltz' makeup gave him something, and Parker appears to be doing Diane Keaton's Annie Hall schtick, using big eyes and odd hand movements. As Stoltz' mother, Jill Clayburgh is keen but given nothing to do except wear a lot of jewellry for eccentricity - get it? In the off-Broadway scenes we get a series of cameos. It's great to see Tony Curtis as the show's producer and his boxer intonation, cheeky smile and silver hair is a delight. Kathleen Turner as the play's lead actor brings some energy, and she carries a drag queen air. Algrant uses her movie-star glamour and pug-ugly face for comic effect. As Stoltz' friend, Ralph Macchio is a true surprise after those terrible Karate Kid titles. His violent reaction to news of his being fired suggests what Macchio might have brought to the Stoltz role, and his scenes with Stoltz carry real sexual tension. Timothy Dalton has a few scenes as a wolf and his snake eyes and dark features hint at a masculinity that his efforts as James Bond lack. Agrant tries for amiability by populating the soundtrack with groovy music and his sensibility includes fantasy and dream, a talking orangutang, stone faces come to life with the help of Whoopi Goldberg, a mariachi band, blackouts, squirrels and a nut factory, an amusing lazy-Susan editing technique, and parties attended by New York literati, including the ubiquitous Quentin Crisp.

great indie film
This is a great film to watch if you're into 'reality' films. The script has a very real feel to it, in the sense that its goal isn't to solve problems or to give everyone a warm fuzzy feeling. Its goal is to show you 'yeah, no one has it all together (although some have it together better than others).

The actors do a great job with the matierial, and the script is well written. I warn in advance that this is a film without a traditional 'plot', so if you don't like films where there's more talking than anything else, you may not like this film.

If you're patient with films, and aren't looking to be entertained, give Naked in New York a try.

More Dogs Than Bones
Released in VHS Tape by Monarch Home Video (16 December, 2003)
MPAA Rating: R (Restricted)
Director: Michael Browning
Starring: Joe Mantegna, Peter Coyote, Mercedes Ruehl, and Whoopi Goldberg
Average review score:

Yeeesh!!!!
Dialog written by an 11 year old, basically, you'd have to be a complete chump to enjoy this "dog". You'd be better entertained stabbing yourself with a fork.

Way Hysterical
This was the funniest tongue-in-cheek movie I've seen in a long time. The added bonus is the great message about greed and power and how karma will get even with you in the long run.

Hysterical if you have a sense of humor
I don't know what the other two people saw, but if you have a sense of humor and like being entertained this movie is a must! It is a B movie, but so was Best in Show, which this is much better. This is a must buy. For silly fun entertainment watch this movie.

In the Wid: Baby animals with Whoopi Goldberg at the San Die
I purchased this video because my young grandchildren wanted a video on baby animals at the zoo. I was horrified when my 6 yr. old granddaughter was watching it (I wasn't paying close attention) and said that a part was so sad. I rewound it, and much to my horror, they showed the killing of baby chimps in some third world country. this was not exactly what I had in mind!!!
